The Probus Peddlers
It's time we cyclists had our say, about the way we cover ground
And what we do for fun and play, and where excitement can be found.
-
Now in our Probus Club it's true, that cyclists are as scare as gold,
You can count our number on one hand, and though not young, we're hardly old.
-
I won't enumerate them all, and some have partners just as keen,
Some are short and some are tall, and some are what you'd call - has been.
-
Now recently the keenest ones, decided they would shoulder packs,
And test their mettle on some runs, around the southern highlands tracks.
-
They planned it well and found a place, with room for six in farmland green,
Called Summerlees, a cottage small, with chooks and ducks, a rural scene.
-
-The cycling group just numbered three, Meryl, David and Alan they're names,
The supporters - Laurie, Dianne and Pete, they followed by car and played other games.
-
So six frisky travelers joined the F3, stopped for coffee in Berrima, in Moss Vale by three,
And soon found their farm-stay, so cosy and neat, and relaxed in the luxury rural retreat.
-
Their meals were all gourmet, the cooking delish, with farm eggs for breakfast, for dinner each dish
Was a connoisseur's dream, as only kings dine , and they washed it all down with some excellent wine.
-
The next day the cyclists - determined and game, headed for Bundanoon, of Brigadoon fame,
And when they arrived and saw all they could see, they sat in the sun and drank coffee or tea.
-
After looking around they headed for home, and while on the way they continued to roam,
Had lunch at Exeter, bought a blackberry pie, toured the Red Bull Garden - but why?
-
The next day they conquered the Bong Bong hill, rode the Bong Bong track right through,
Saw Bradman's Oval, lunched at Moss Vale, trundled home to Dave's BBQ.
-
The final day saw them off to the Falls, named Fitzroy for his recognition,
And Laurie received an ABC call - she had won their art competition.
-
Then twas time to depart, they'd had lots of fun, and the weather had been really kind,
The cyclists were happy, supporters content, all were refreshed in body and mind.
