Google Master Tool

This program uses the Google to answer your questions all in a tiny program without loading your browser up.

I initially just made this for my fiance to make it easier for her to get quick answers when she is studying, but i decided to release it to the public.

Google Master Examples

Here are some examples of the questions that can be asked along with their answers:

  • Q: What is the population of Australia?
    A: Australia - Population: 20,090,437
     
  • Q: 100 - 65 * 23
    A: 100 - (65 * 23) = -1,395
     
  • Q: What is HTML?
    A: HTML - Hypertext Markup Language is the authoring software language used on the Internet's World Wide Web. HTML is used for creating World Wide Web pages.
     
  • Q: 56.76 USD in AUD
    A: 56.76 U.S. dollars = 74.5468873 Australian dollars
     
  • Q: 0xFF345C in decimal
    A: 0xFF345C = 16,725,084
     
  • Q: 1.1 km in feet
    A: 1.1 kilometers = 3,608.92388 feet
     
  • Q: what is scoliosis?
    A: Scoliosis - lateral deviation of the normal vertical line of the spine which, when measured by X-ray, is greater than ten degrees. Scoliosis consists of a lateral curvature of the spine with rotation of the vertebrae within the curve.
     

Currently there is no Proxy support in this application, but there will be in a future version.

Google Master HotKeys

You can press Alt-Pause/Break at any time to show the google master query window, you can hold shift when dismissing the result balloon to open the google search in your browser, you can also hold control when dismissing the result balloon to copy the results to the windows clipboard.

If you left click on the result balloon to dismiss it the query window will show again, if you right click it will be dismissed and the query window will not show.

Pressing Ctrl-Up and Ctrl-Down when typing a query will cycle through your query history.

* If google replies with a "Did you Mean?" quote, then left clicking on the balloon tooltip will show the query entry box, but the text will default to the Did you mean text... you can test this by typing in "what is scoliosys", which is spelt wrong and it will come up with, did you mean "what is scoliosis"
* Holding control while you dismiss the tooltip balloon will copy the text to the clipboard
* You can now hold control while in the query entry text box and push the up and down arrows to cycle through your history of queries, you can also use the scroll bar tot he right of the entry box
* Icons look a bit better
