Gems Collection
This MIDP contains two games:
- Gems
- Bejeweled
They are made by me entirely. Gems is like a tetris sort of game but better, and Bejeweled is more of a puzzle game than a fast paced game.
!!IMPORTANT!!: A bug existed in the versions downloaded prior to the 17th of December, 2005, where the Bejeweled game would play on its own, this has now been fixed.
Gems Game
One block at a time will fall from the top of the board.
Controls
Use Left and Right or 4 and 6 to move the pice side to side. Use Up and Down or 2 and 5 to cycle the colours of the piece up or down, use 8 to drop the piece straight away. Press the right navi button to pause the game, after doing this, you can press the * key to end the game. Once paused, you can press the right navi button again to unpause it.
Scoring
You can get points by putting blocks of the same colour together so that 3 or more are touching one another, either horizontally or vertically.
Special Blocks
Every 1000 points you will get a special block, which is indicated by the bar to the left of the next block diagram. When you get a special block drop it on top of a coloured block and all blocks of that colour will disappear.
Levels
You progress through the levels based on how many blocks you have dropped, the progress bar just below the current level shows how long you have until the next level. As you progress through the levels the game will get faster, and the number of different coloured blocks will increase. In the later levels, the minimum amount of blocks that must be touching each other will also increase.
Game End
The game ends when any of your pieces touch or go past the top of the board.
Bejeweled Game
Swap pieces to get 3 or more blocks of the same colour in a row, either horizontally or vertically.
Controls
Use Left, Right, Up, and Down (or 4, 6, 2, and 8) to move the cursor in its respective direction. You can also use 1, 3, 7, and 9 to move the cursor diagonally. Once you have your cursor on one of the pieces you wish to swap press 5 to select the piece and then Left, Right, Up, and Down (or 4, 6, 2, and 8) to swap the piece with the other piece in that respective direction.
Press the right navi button to pause the game, while paused you can press the * key to save your game and exit so you can load it later.
Special Pieces
Get a row of four same colour pieces to create a special block which will explode its immediate vicinity when it is combined in another row or column. Get a row or column of five same colour pieces to create a special block which you can use at any time to remove all pieces of a certain colour. To use these special pieces always select the special piece first and press in the direction of the block for which you want to remove all its colours from the board. If you wish to just swap a special piece with another piece (and not use it), make sure you select the non-special piece first.
Scoring & Levels
You progress through the levels by getting rid of the blocks, the more you get rid of the better, more points are awarded in the higher levels.
Hints
If you get stuck at any time you can press the # key to flash a piece which could be next swapped, but beware, this will hinder your progress to the next level. If you wait long enough you will automatically get a free hint.
Game End
The game ends when there are no more possible moves left.
