Black Flowers: Hard to work into the garden landscape, but I like them.
Daylily below is near black. Most of the seedlings from this cross (and the reverse cross) were not *both* sun-resistant AND rain-resistant. Usually they were sun-resistant. I only have two black seedlings that are moisture-resistant as well as being sun-resistant.
Black flowers usually look blacker from a short distance, you will have noticed this.
Look at the darkness of the *sepals* in this daylily, that's the exact dark effect the whole of each flower displays when you stand around 12 feet or so from the plant. I imagine your own black daylilies behave in the same way.
