Frequently asked questions |
Who can come?
Anyone over 18 with at least a basic knowledge of Italian. The aim of the weekend is to have both a cultural and linguistic full immersion experience, but we cater to beginners, intermediate and advanced learners of Italian, as well as any interested members of the public. People of all ages and backgrounds have attended similar events in the past.
My Italian is not too great, can I still come?
Sure, and hopefully by the end of the weekend it will not be so bad!
Who is organising it?
Tutors of Italian language and culture from various universities across Sydney and Melbourne together with professional trainers. We are all native speakers.
I can only come one day, does it matter which one?
No, you can attend the day which best suits your availability and interests. The overarching theme is of course the Weekend and what Italian people do in their leisure time. However the different activities do not need to be followed in any particular order and workshops do not draw on knowledge acquired during the previous day.
Would I learn more if I attended the whole weekend?
Attending both days would of course provide a stronger experience. If you are in a position to do so, we encourage you to come along for the full ride. However, every bit counts. One day is better than none; it will be fun and hopefully motivate you to learn more.
I am particularly interested in the topic of one of the workshops.
Is it open to any level? Yes, the same topics are offered at different levels; basic for beginners, more complex vocabulary and structures for intermediate learners and conducted at native speaker level for advanced participants.
I have dietary requirements. Will your lunches cater for my needs?
Yes, but remember to let us know in advance. Complete and email us back the registration form you find in the prices and bookings section.
Is it fun?
Yes. Weekend Italiano has been adapted from university Italian Camps run by the same tutors in 2006 and 2007. Student feedback was excellent in terms of language learning, cultural immersion, fun experiences, and meeting people. People of all ages and abilities were able to engage in all activities and enjoy the weekend.
When/How do I book?
The sooner the better as places are limited (max. 15 participants per workshop). It is a case of first in, first served. Bookings can be made online with credit card through our secure PayPal system. See our Prices & Bookings section for more information.
Is it possible to cancel an enrolment?
After payment has been made, fees cannot be refunded. Credit notes may be granted in exceptional circumstances such as illness, in which case a medical certificate must be provided.
