INTRODUCTION
By way of introduction, after scrolling a few simple wall plaques and wall shelves for family and friends in 2002 I tackled my first major scrollwork project in 2003, "The Rhinelander", a Gothic clock by Wildwood Designs. Other hobbies and interests were abandoned in favour of scrolling - a hobby in which I am now completely engrossed. This small site will feature some of my work.
I use a Delta scrollsaw; a 6" x 9" belt and disc sander; 1/4" bench drill; a small table saw and a portable dust extractor. Of course I also use plenty of sandpaper and lots of patience.
I began using plywood; however, I found it difficult to stain evenly and was not impressed by the finish of the edges. Now I use solid timbers only. A large variety of attractive timbers are available, e.g., mahogany, Mackay cedar, American walnut, siriun cedar, New Guinea rosewood, rosewood, rosealder, silky oak, beech, jacaranda to name a few.
Most of my fretwork cutting is done with 2/0 blades and No. 1 metal cutting blades. The most difficult task is finishing. I have tried a few methods, but keep coming back to good quality artists brushes and several coats of clear satin polyurethane.
My name is Ken Field, and you may contact me by email by completing the form on the " Contact Ken " page.

The "Special Items" section features models which are an accurate representation of an original monument, and not simply a design of someone's imagination.
I have also included some interesting facts regarding the actual monuments, and if you are familiar with Google Maps you can see location of monument and negotiate map for other information regarding the area.
The photographs in the Gallery are not grouped. They are randomly displayed.
