This page contains links to other sites that I have found
useful If you find broken links please contact me via
the email address listed on the contact information page.
- I worked at a
NASA
tracking station during the Voyager encounters of Jupiter and Saturn. The
station is no more, but Colin Mackellar has created a website in honour of the
deeds and the people there. This is what the station looked like
a couple of
years after it closed
- Mike's Flight Deck This site
got me interested in building a sim. Mike has written a great book about
building simulated aircraft instruments that is a must read for any
serious sim'er.
- Baron58 Another site dedicated to the
mighty Beechcraft Baron 58. This site shows some outstanding engineering of
the cockpit controls.
- Donald's
Hobbies Keep an eye on this site. I bought a bunch of servos real cheap
from these folks and their service is first class!
- Stock Drive Products / Sterling
Instruments These people sell small metal and plastic gears. They produce
a catalog that tells you everything you ever wanted to know about gears and
then some.
- FSCockpit Check out Herman's site.
This site contains a wealth of info for sim-pit builders and is a start
here for anyone interested in building a 'pit.
- Jims Page This site shows a
brilliantly simple motion control setup. After I visited this site, I decided
to add this type of motion to my sim. Unfortunately, I will have to re-design
the shell to accommodate it...hmmm
- Joyrider Motion platform
Check out this site also for some motion platform details. I'm thinking of
combining the designs of this site and jim's control mechanisms
- Faeth Aircraft: Not exactly a link, but I bought my rudder
pedals from Kenny Faeth and he's a nice guy, so I thought I'd give him a plug.
Email him at faethaircraft@msn.com
If you want to phone, his number is (916)368-1832. The yard is at 5954
Bradshaw Rd. Sacramento Ca 95822.
- Minitech These are the people
that supplied my lathe and mill. They are located in Australia, but they can do
business with anyone, anywhere. If you're interested in engineering your own
parts, then have a look at their site.
- Microchip makers of the PIC range
of microcontrollers I will use to control and interface the 'pit gauges,
switches and lights to the CAN 2.0 bus.
- MSC Industrial supply have an amazing range of
mechanical bits and pieces. For international customers, it's a bit tricky to
deal with them, but they are willing and helpful check them out at
http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRHM
- For bearings, you have to take a look at this site
http://www.vxb.com/ These people have an
impressive range of bearings. Check out the 1X3X1mm stainless bearings. Then
pick up a 3mm bolt. The diameter of the bolt is the same size as the OD of
this bearing!
- And of course one of, if not THE premier flightsim sites
AvSim
- Dave Cutliff is a fellow sim builder, who's also into CNC routing and CNC
milling and who has generously helped me on a number of occasions. His site is
dave's
flight sim Dave is building a B1900 (I think) and has done quite an
amazing bit of engineering with his CNC setup. Worth a look!
