Our Chinese New Year

This year is the Year of the Dragon. We celebrated the Chinese New  Year from the 30th January at Girrinbai.

Lyn shows the children the Chinese Scrolls that are hung in the rooms. We look at the colours, patterns and writing.

There are many different types of lanterns.

We look at some Lait See Money Pockets. Money is placed in the pockets and given to family and friends.

Lyn tells the children  about how we write from left to right but the Chinese write their characters from top to bottom.

We look at the small Chinese Dragon.

Lyn hides the small Dragon under the blanket so we can make some magic.

Lyn gets the children to close their eyes and make a wish. I wish that the dragon will grow big. We then blow our magic to the little box.

We were magic.....we made the little dragon grow to a big dragon.

Surprise and bewilderment on the faces!!! This is the magic age of preschoolers.

Look how big it grew. Look at the long tail!!!

Lyn shows the children how the mask head fits.

Lyn and Tracy do the Chinese Dragon Dance.

Now it is Gillie's and Lyn's turn.
