Objectives for Term One

 

* The children will learn to separate from their parents / caregivers without distress and to implement the separation programme where necessary.

* The children to become familiar with the daily routine of the centre.

* The Children will learn the names of the staff in both rooms and their peers within their group.

* To encourage the children to participate in the activities at their own pace and level.

* To develop the skill of listening for their name in activities.

* To encourage the older children to interact with their peers playing in an associative manner and for the younger children to play solitary or parallel with their peers.

* To increase the children's attention span at tasks over the term.

* To develop an understanding of hygiene and sun safety at preschool through activities, toileting , washing hands , and routine procedures. To Encourage our Healthy Eating guidelines

* To develop fine motor skills through cutting ( snipping and small straight lines) ,threading , tearing and crumpling activities.

* To commence our perceptual motor programme with the older groups commencing at lesson three and the younger groups at lesson one.

* To develop the skill of participating in a small group of ten children which will involve turn taking and waiting their turn at tasks.

* To observe every child during the day to develop an understanding of their interests , skills, strengths and needs. This will assist in the development of an individual programme.

* To Incorporate the culture of each child in the daily programme.

*To commence the Maths/ Science Programme.

* To monitor rest time to determine the children who will require at rest or to be placed in the quiet time room for term two. ( Mon /Tues/ Thurs/ Fri only children).

* To enrich the children with cultural activities and extra curricula activities.

*To have fun!!!!

Flowers

At the drawing table Linda helped scaffold the children's drawing and understanding about what makes up a plant. The children  selected the flowers that they wanted to draw.

Linda works with a Kimberley Artist helping her to learn how to observe closely the petals on the flower and then draw the detail on her own work.

Ashley drew a sun flower alongside of a tree in her story book.

Georgia drew the rainbow, a smiley face, stars, flowers, a tree and some jelly!!

The Tank and "Tankerman" at war. Drawing by Joshua. It is sad that war can be a thought in a child's life . A reflection of the times.

Sophia drew a picture of her recent holiday to the snow. She is going on the chair lift with her dad to Kids Club.

Using Rulers for our Art

 

Our Artist uses the ruler to make her frames.

Myself and my brother in my frame that I made from the ruler. Artist is Paige.

We added the rulers to the craft table- the children could use them to make the train track as well at their train. They cut the circles.

Our Intern demonstrated to the children the Mr Maker craft using our large screen so that the children knew what to at the art table.

Relaxation- Thai Chi

Gillie has some wonderful ideas and she encourages the children  to participate in Thai Chi as part of our Fundamental Movement and Relaxation Programme- developing wellbeing.
