CLUB CHANGING LEAGUES

Yesterday (Friday 15/10/2010) the club was granted the green light to switch from Farrer League to Riverina Football League by the AFL Riverina board after the club was given two days to come up with a pass mark of 75/100 and passed with flying colours.

But I must say that we still have a lot of work to do and we have just done the first part. So I ask everybody who wants to be part of this new era in the club please turn up to the AGMs and give support to your club as we go and celebrate 100 years of club in RFL next year and further down the track we can say that this was the right move forward for the club.

GRAND FINALS AT MAHER OVAL on 11/09/10

Well what a weekend we had where the First grade came out firing and finished up with a 112 point win (which is now the Farrer League record after beating a 56 year old record which was held by Culcairn from the previous leagues name Albury & District Football League by 1 point) and gives them the 6th best winning margin in NSW. Also they kept Marrar to the lowest score in Farrer League history and at the moment I am trying to find out if there has been one lower in NSW as the FootyPedia website (http://footypedia.yuku.com/topic/466/t/Lowest-Grand-Final-Scores-Lowest-Single-Club-Scores.html ) has no records for the state but I did find a score of 1.1.7 from Ganmain in 1918 (updated 9/10/10).

The A Grade lost in extra time which must be a record as you usually don't hear about a netball final going into extra time too many times. So we must thank them for giving their best go and wish them well next year.

Reserves also went down but to the team which defeated them last year but we did hold them well early in the game but they started to get the ball out of the centre in the last quarter and we tried to come back but they returned a goal and finished up winning by 24 points in the end.

Under 17's started slowly but by halftime had a lead by 9 points then went to 1 point down at 3/4 time then finshed up losing by 15 points in a close finish to their first try at a grand final since returning last year to the competition.

Photos of the lower grade games can be found in the photo gallery plus the other teams which made the finals.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS OF AWARDS FOR 2010

The First Grade best and fairest went to Chad Hamblin with the runner-up being Randy Munzel. In seconds Jarrod Slattery was the winner from Tom Edgar with Adam Castles winning Under 17's with Joe Byrnes the runner-up.

I will add the other winners when they come to hand.

SENIOR  PRESENTATION NIGHT OF 2009

The presentation night went along very well with over a hundred people attending the night with Brad Aiken  winning his fourth club Best and Fairest and first time in a row for him with Ryan Girling and Daniel Kennedy winning the 2nd grade and Under 17's respectively by picking up votes in the last round. So that makes Brad and Daniel as the both league and club in the same year.

In netball Tash Lenon, Tiffany Bensch, Corrina Bax and Amy Fowler winning the A, B, C Grade and Juniors respectively.

To see the other award winners please go to the link called "2009 award winners".

FARRER LEAGUE PRESENTATION NIGHT

This was held on Wednesday 2/09/09 at the Rules Club with Brad Aiken winning his fourth Clear medal which gave him the most one player has won in Farrer League; Daniel Kennedy won the inaugural David "Sandman" Oehm Medal for Under 17's; Marc Geppert (won the Leading Goalkicker) and the club won the club championship for the second year in a row.
