Bloglines

Thursday, June 29th, 2006

Hey all, you should check this site out, it’ll change your life (well, maybe only if your a geek). Anyways its called Bloglines. This is what it does:

Bloglines is a server-based RSS aggregation system. Many blogs and news feed services publish RSS feeds, special files containing the content of the site formatted for easy parsing. Bloglines allows people to subscribe to these feeds. Once subscribed, Bloglines periodically checks the feed for changes or additions.

Basically, all the blogs, news or anything with an RSS feed that you read online can be added to your personal list, and Bloglines keeps track of them and tells you when there is a new item. So check it out and you’ll never have the excuse of not reading my blog again :).

Well, I know its a bit late, and everyone’s forgotten about what happened last Monday night, but I went down to Birrarung Marr (who the fuck came up with that name? Surely there are easier aboriginal names to remember than that) with Jase and met up with Bianca. We were planning to go to Fed Square, but it was closed by the time we got there at 11pm, but it didn’t really bother us too much ‘cos the atmosphere was pretty awsome down by the Yarra. The excitement could be felt in the air walking there, with the hugh crowd converging on Flinders St.

In the first half, we had a fantasic view of the screen, and as the match went on the crowed became more confident of a win. After half time some tall guys stood in front of us restricting my view to about 1/3 of the screen, but that was balanced by one of the Italian players getting a red card. With Australia continually pushing forward, it seemed to be only a matter of time before we scored. However, in the 93rd minute of the match, the unthinkable happened…

Italy

The crowed went totally silent, hoping that it was a mistake. Everyone had there hands over their faces, trying to hide from what had happened.

I’d never seen so many people in the city at 3:30am on the walk back to Jase’s. I was quite surprised that the city wasn’t trashed, ‘cos everyone seemed so pissed off.

Hastings and Yaringa

Wednesday, June 21st, 2006

Went down to Hastings on the weekend, after there was some confusions with making bookings for lunch at Cape Shank. Shika, Tom, Jase, Dave, Megs and myself thought it would be fun to hire a boat, so after asking around at Hastings, they told us the closest place would be Yaringa, a bit further north on Western Port Bay.

When we got there we found out we could hire a little dingy that should be able to fit us all in. The guy told us how do drive it and that we weren’t allowed to go faster than 5 knots in the channel. Soon after we started, we found that wouldn’t be a problem as the boats top speed was about 5 knots.

Most of the boating journey was uneventfull, apart from the awsome seals we saw (which I first thought were divers). They were just playing with each other and came really close to our boat. At one point they even swam underneath it.

Check out the rest of the photos from the weekend.

Hi All,
I’ve been playing around with my photo gallery and come up with a google maps mashup for it. Check it out here. Once you get to the page, click on “View Map” which will show you a map of the world, as well as the locations of all the photos in the gallery. Click on a marker to see the photos taken at that location. Underneth the map the are some links that help in zooming to places of interest.

Also, when you are looking at a particular photo, you can click on “Go to Map” and it will show you where the photo was taken.

Please tell me what you like and what I can do to make it better.
