History: The Asian Rhinoceros is an extremly endagered species in the wild. Their habitat throughout
the Indian Sub Continent and across South-east Asia is rapidly being destroyed. In this work I wanted to show
a feeling of an ancient animal in an old world. Using a reproduction 1800's map of the world as my
base, I tore and stained the edges and then prepared the surface with a ground of acrylic gesso followed by
zinc white. I allowed some of the map reproduction to show through the ground. The Rhino is drawin in silverpoint and is
is positioned sohis head and horn point to the areas of the world he used to thrive in. These areas have also been
highlighted in Silverpoint.
