The Church of Repashuta

 

For generations the people of Repashuta dream about having their own church. Finances were always short but there was enthusiasm. For decades they were collecting stones that will The Church. Even today, some 60 years later one comes across with stories like " We were playing on the pile of stones as children do. My grandma always yelled at me, 'don't take the stones, they will be a church one day!'"

Then communism came and church-building was 'not supported' to put it politely. In fact, a communist MP laid her eye on the property ...

Scenery of the Pilis Hills

 

 

The Pilis Hills are some 30 Km north of Budapest.

While doing a research for another documentary in the Pilis one couldn’t resist collecting these 'beauty' shots. They are not integral part of the doco, but they don't fall outside of it either.

 

The scenery is breathtaking. Some of the forests are so thick, one can hardly get through, at other parts it is like night-time under the canopy while above it the summer sunshine is as bright as it gets. It's dead quiet and scary in the dark though, one is expecting an elf to step out of a tree in any moment.

The Kodály Music Education Institute, Newcastle String Academy and Colourstrings Australia are proud to present renowned Hungarian violin pedagogue, ‘Géza Szilvay’, founder and conductor of the Helsinki Strings, and principal of the East Helsinki Music Institute, on his Australian tour from September to October 2010. The Australian Strings’ Association (AUSTA), the University of Western Australia, the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (ECU) and Scotch College Perth, have generously sponsored the inclusion of Perth into Szilvay’s Australian Itinerary. He will be in Perth from the 14th to 17th of October delivering a 4-day strings workshop.
