Home Home Automation Stage 1 - Lighting Simulator
Home Automation Project

Circuit diagram

Pictures of lighting simulator
In stage 1, a lighting simulator will be developed,  The simulator will be made from standard Australian electrical components and will be used to develop hardware  to prove the concept without disturbing the karma of the house.  It will also provide a safe, easy to access, test and development environment.

Hardware

The simulator will be made from whatever junk I have lying around.  The design is based on standard lighting used in Australia.  The attached drawings shows the design.
  • Step 1 is to get the light working from a switch and a relay controled by a switch. (complete)
  • Step 2 is to get the relay controlled by electronic switch (complete) and
  • Step 3 is to get the electronic switch controlled by the lighting controller (99%complete).
The tasks here are straightforward and will probably take  a few days the put together.

Features (or why did he do that?)

The entry point for wiring is through an aluminium panel (salveged from and old VME rack at work).  This panel is earthed for safety.  The rest of the construction was dictated by what was on hand.  I use a lot of terminal blocks so its easy to change things with minimal rework.

Software

There is no software in stage 1.
