mini tune and pump up

Unread postby dalmeny » Fri Sep 16, 2016 11:03 pm

Hi fellas

A mate of mine, who lives in the gong, has just acquired a GT Clubby and soon to be a regular MITG participant is looking for any recommendations for a good SU's tuner in the Gong? Also anyone down there got a Hydro Machine?

Thanks

Graeme Lord Automotive in Fairy Meadow.

BMC trained, his father owned local dealer back in the day.

I've heard he is very good with tuning and he has an original hydro pump

Really? No longer does tune ups??

Well, as long as SUs have the right needle fitted you jus need to adjust the mixture at idle, I use a colour tune, and the rest should be right. Twins need to be balanced. I just use a tube to listen with to get them even.

Another old school mechanic worth trying is at the service station north end of Thirroul. His name totally escapes me at the moment, but he races triumphs in historic class.

Maybe others may have suggestions?

It's Graeme Rutledge in Thirroul. Was annoying that I couldn't think of his name

Yes, forgot about them. They also do carb overhaul and parts.

Also I have a home made hydro pump if it's just to raise it up.

Thanks Phil

When he spoke to Graham Lord (or his son), they said they would have to send it across the road for carbie stuff. Probably the guy you mentioned at fairy Meadow. Thanks for the pump up offer, but I did suggest that if he was going get it pumped up that he should slip four new knuckles in at the same time, whilst the machine is hooked up.

Yep. The proper machine has vacuum so can draw up the bags. Need that done myself. If he needs it pumped up enough to drive it around I'm happy to help out.
