12th July 2015, MITG Bundeena Winter Classic Run

Our next Run will be the Bundeena Winter Classic, which is one of the best runs on the calendar up through the national park.

Event Date: 12th July 2015
Event Time: 8:30am for 9:00am departure from Key's Batteries, Cnr of Abercrombie St and Mt Keira Rd, West Wollongong

Drive to Sublime Point Lookout at Bulli Tops for morning tea.

Back down Bulli Pass and along the coast road to Stanwell tops then through the National Park to Maianbar for lunch

After lunch north through National Park to Loftus, return to Wollongong by Princes Highway or Motorway

Just a small update on this Run.

We will run up Mt Kiera and along the top rather tha along the Northern Distributor. We will stop for morning tea at Sublime Point Lookout. Then back down Bulli Pass, along the Coast Road, thru the National Park to Maianbar for lunch.

For Sydney folk there is the option of meeting us at Sublime Point at approx. 9:30am if you wish.

This is tomorrow peoples! ...looks like it will be nice weather.

We've made some minor changes to tomorrows run. It will take us up Mt Keira and along the top to Bulli Tops for a morning tea break at Sublime Point Lookout at Bulli Tops. Then back down Bulli Pass and wind north along the coast road and into the twisty bits of the National Park with an early lunch stop at Maianbar Beach Cafe near Bundeena. Then back home through Audley and south along the old highway.

Sydney people can meet us at Sublime Point Lookout, we should arrive there at around 9:30am

For those coming to our usual meeting point at Keys Batteries we will meet at 8:30 aiming to leave at 9:00am sharp.

It's hard to tell exactly how the weather will turn out for tomorrow.

At this stage we will go ahead with the run but we suggest checking here in this forum thread if there are any last minute cancellations or changes.

Even if we still meet at Keys we can chat and decide what to do. One option might be to only drive to Sublime Point or make alternative plans.

At this stage we will go ahead with the Run. I live up north where we are heading and although it's cold and windy this morning the cloud is a little more broken up, theres even a few blue patches of sky. Looking at the weather reports the likelihood of showers decreases the further north toward Sydney.

As I said in the previous post we can shorten or modify the run if nessesary. Winter Classic Run is living up to it's Name!

What a great turnout considering the weather was looking a little threatening to start with. Thanks everyone for making the effort on such a cold windy morning. Fortunatly the more we drove the better it got.

Had a great Morning Tea at Sublime Point Lookout, big shout out to the staff there who did a great job of looking after us especially as we had more than we thought. After a smooth run along the coast and through the National Park had an excellent Lunch at Maianbar Beach Café, a big thank you to the owner Nick for looking after us there also. The sun came out for the run home back through the Park and Seacliff Drive.
