Kiama Blowhole Run

Event Date:             Sunday 18th July

Event Time:            9:00 am

Details of the route:

9:00 am –

Meet at Key Batteries - Mt Keira Rd

9:30 am –

Depart from Key Batteries.

10:00 am –

Pickup point will be on Terry St (NOT Tongarra Rd!) for anyone joining us from south of Wollongong.

I am not sure where this pickup point will be, check the forum for final pick up point details.

10:45 am –

Arrive at Kiama Blowhole. Parking could be a problem if we have a lot of minis turn up, so we may have to park up the hill somewhere.

12:00 –

Leave Kiama to head home. This time has been set to allow people some time to take in the blowhole and wander up into town knowing a fixed leaving time. This will allow people to head home in time for lunch and/or family commitments.

Those who would like to stay for lunch can do so on their own schedule. Please be aware this time may change if we get to Kiama later than expected.

For the drive home, we might take a small detour along Jerrara Rd and Swamp Rd, but this will only take an extra 5 minutes over driving straight up the freeway.

Check out this Google Maps link for more details on the route.

Royal National Park Run

Event Date:             Sunday 22nd March

Event Time:            Meet at 8.00am for a 8.30am departure

Details of the run:

One run we haven't done for yonks is the National Park run up north.

Start at Mt Keira Rd - Key Batteries?

I think this is reasonably central (open to suggestions), drive up over the seacliff bridge to Bald Hill.

I believe there is a park near the river at Audley, we can have morning tea/lunch there, and then head back home.

I might have to take it slow on the way up to bald hill with my slipping clutch though.

Hopefully the rest of the run will be fairly flat.

Also, we tend to have late starts. I think those with family commitments find it hard to make lunch runs.

How about we look at an 8am for 8:30 start.

Should be at Bald hill by 9ish.

Up at Audley for morning tea by 10.

Home by lunch.

The Rotary Club of Corrimal Inc Presents:

A Massive Monster Motor Show

Location: Campus East – University of Wollongong

Date: Sunday November 30th 2008

Time: 10am

“To Motor Enthusiasts and Car Clubs

We shall be staging a Massive Monster Motor Show on the 30th November at Campus East, Fairy Meadow. This is a Division of the UOW.

The time: 10.00 to 4.00 pm - exhibitors will need to have displays on site and ready at 9.00 am. ( we are setting up on Saturday afternoon and there will be security on site all night. )

We welcome exhibits from any car club or motor enthusiast. Exhibits could be cars, vintage, drag, or whatever is interesting. We also welcome motor bikes and motors of any sort. This will be the third motor show that we have held. Last show, we had antique farm machinery, and some very interesting motors and machinery, not necessarily cars.

If you could raise with your club the invitation to individuals with an interest in machinery and motors, that would be good.

The exhibits will be on the field free of charge.”

This looks like it might be a fixed exhibit for the day from 9-4, and it looks like we will probably need to let the club know before the date if we are attending.

Let me know if you are interested,

Cheers

Jonesy

SUNDAY 16th DECEMBER 2007

Where do we go in Jervis Bay??

My suggestion would be the park at the end of the main street of Huskisson. There is plenty of parking, plenty of space. There a plenty of shops nearby for those who want to buy lunch. And if its warm the beach or pool is close as well.

John Smidt has confirmed the Mini King open days as Sat 30th June and Sun 1st of July.

The main idea of the day is to give everyone a chance to have a look around the place

he's been talking to mini driving legend Dave Holland and he's about 95% sure he will

be making an appearene on one of the days as well. There will be a sausage sizzle put

on by John and soft drinks will be available ( for $1 i think, don't quote me on that )

Wollongong - Robertson Pie shop - Kangaroo Valley - Berry - Back Home. Date: 11-2-2007.

Hi everyone!

Well we have had a bit of a break over christmas, but i think its time we start organising our next run. Now I know we have done this run before but it has some quality winding roads and some great stop off spots.

For the guys up sydney way, the plan at the moment is to meet a Heathcote Maccas at 8.00am and leave by 8.30.

For those of you who are meeting in Wollongong, the run will start at Revolution Racegear at 9:30 for a 10:00 start. - so we can cut through the back of coniston on to the freeway. Head down to Albion park, we usually pick up 1 or 2 on tongarra rd in Albion Park (let us know if you plan on meeting up there instead of revolution - if so look at being there to leave by 10:20).

Next we head up macquarie pass to the pie shop. Then down into kangaroo valley for a lunch break, then head back out into berry then along the princess highway home. Its a fairly long run, but it is a very enjoyable drive.

LAST Minisinthegong RUN FOR THE YEAR!

We will meet at 9:30 for a 10 am start at Key Batteries (cnr Mt Keira Rd. and Abercrombie St.) See a map - Where?.

The planned route as suggested by Thommo (unavailable for the run)

Wollongong-Campbelltown-Camden [LUNCH BREAK] Picton-Menangle-Douglas Park-Wollongong

THE TRIP OUT

Key Batteries --> Mt Ousley rd --> Picton rd to Campbelltown --> Narellan rd then left turn into Camden Valley Way, then follow that to Camden for lunch. I was probably going to go to the show ground on the right at the end of the main street. I remember that there are areas to park and have lunch and its only a short walk to the shops if you have to buy something. (That was a while ago though it may have changed)

THE TRIP HOME

From the show ground go south on Murray st (opp the showground) --> Broughton st --> Camden bypass make right onto by pass and then stay on that road all the way over razor back to the main street of Picton. Then left turn onto Menangle st/Picton rd (Should have signs indicating way to Wollongong) At the Maldon left turn onto Menangle Rd follow this until a right turn into Douglas park (Camden Rd) go over the train lines then the road swings to the left and changes into Douglas Park dr follow this back to Picton rd and home to Wollongong.

We need to be at memorial park in concord at 9am, the plan is that we can have a BBQ breakfast and have a look at all the nice minis up there. I know this is early, but it also means we can be back in wollongong by lunch time, if thats what we want. So the plan is:

MEET: Corner Mt Keira Rd and Abercrombie St, Mt Keira

TIME: 7am for a 7:30 departure (SHARP)

CONTACT:Ryan Filippi

PH: 0432163805

We will be able to meet people at Engadine along the princess highway around 8AM if anyone from that area wishes to join in the convoy. If you are planning to meet us along the way, give me a call so we can look out for you etc.. This will be a great opportunity to meet all the guys and girls from sydney and further up north. This should attract a lot of minis, so keep this date free.

Club plate cars this is a good opportunity to get those club plate cars out on a decent run. Spread the word about the run, we want it to be huge.

Amy Taylor's Wedding

Wedding run will start at Revolution Race Gear Wollongong (Guys coming from Sydney can cruise down together) from 12 noon on Saturday 15th July EVERYONE FROM THE BOARD please roll up to Revolution Racegear Wollongong for a free BBQ and soft drinks courtesy of Matt and Amy ( Bride and Groom). Meet at 1:30 - 2:00pm for ribbon fitting and last minute details with a departure around 2pm or just after. We will have white ribbon ready for the car. The lucky couple have 2 photographers, one for the guys and one for the girls, therefore there will be photos prior to both groups heading off to the church. Wedding is at 3:30 at a local church address to be confirmed but it is local.

FOR THOSE ON THE GROOM'S TEAM - Be at the guys house at 2:30ish for photos then With 1 guy per mini we can take them for a quick cruise before arriving at the church.

FOR THOSE ON THE BRIDES TEAM - For those lucky enough to be looking after the girls they will be collected at 3:00pm again probably one car per bridesmaid The bride and Brides father will go in one car. obviously this means we will have spare minis if we get enough - rather have too many than not enough.

NOTE: After the church service we will swap all the cars around so those who had to take a big hairy male first time can have a bridesmaid and visa versa.

Both locations are only 5 mins from the church but they are happy to do a bit of a cruise previous we can work on something but a run up Mt Keira should fix them. After arriving at the church and all photos are done it should only be a 30 minute wait. I will sort something out here to pass the time. Then off to Flagstaff hill for photos. I have just mapped out the route and eveything is within walking distance of our starting point which means we are not fighting accross town for each stage of the day. I am making up a map for everyone as we speak but on the day I may take the two group leaders for a quick run to show them were eveything is. If we get to the bride and grooms houses early enough and get the photos done we can take them for a blast up Mt Keira - the Church is at the the Base of Mt Keira and the collection point for the bride and groom are less than 1 km apart. It would be a hoot if the guys team went up Mt keira first, turned around at the top and as the are comming down the girls pass them the other way going up. Guys then go to the Chruch - girls 10 - 15 min later.

At the moment we have about 10 - 12 minis but will certainly need a few more as well all know there are last minute disasters which prevent people from turning up so if you know anyone else who can come along please get them to email me.

Ten Pin Bowling Night

We are planning to have a ten pin bowling night on friday the 16th of June. Meet at revolutions ready to leave at 7pm, go for a little cruize out to Northern Bowl, to play a round or two, then maybe another cruize if we feel like it.

I need numbers so that i can book the lanes. This is a good opportunity to see the minis in a different light, as well as socialise and get to know each other a bit better.

So let me know asap if you plan to come. And remember you dont need a mini to come along.

Event Date: 19th February. (19/02/06)

Here are the details: The run is on the 19th February (This Sunday).

There will be two meeting points, the first will be at revolution racegear on denison st wollongong around 12 and we will plan to leave by 12:30. See a map - Where?.

Next meeting point is Tongarra rd Albion Park, we will probably be there before 1pm so if you want to meet us there, I imagine we would be leaving there at the latest quarter past 1 (1:15pm).

Next stop is robertson pie shop, where we will meet up with a new club called Mini2 (go to www.mini2.com.au to see the entire run they have planned).

We will then follow the run planned by Mini2, which I think is the following: (from pie shop) go along jamberoo mt rd to jamberoo (not kangaroo valley). head straight back up to albion park. hop on the distributor all the way up to thirroul, continue to coalcliff (seacliff bridge) and up to blad hill. Then they will continue up through the national park and back to sydney.

Most of us, I think, will probably make it to bald hill, I dont know about the national park. But if you are only interested in a short run, then you can pull off on the way back from jamberoo.

If you want anymore information, feel free to email us, or post a message on our forum.

Event Date: 18th December. (18/12/05)

Ok now this is really late notice, but if you havent seen the emails we have sent out here is what is going on:

It will be an 8am start, and we will meet at revolutions racegear - 1/19 Denison st Wollongong. See a map - Where?. Then we will head up to bald hill for a drive along the new bridge. What I would really like to see is everyone trying to keep the whole group of cars together, here is a suggestion from another member (This is going to be the plan): We all take off from Revolution Racegear at 8:30am, (wait for all cars to get through all the intersections before taking off), and make our way towards Austinmer along the freeway. The set of traffic lights at Austinmer is the last set before the bridge. If the leaders turn into the Austinmer beach car park and just pull over to the right ready to turn back onto Lawrence Hargrave drive (DON'T GET OUT OF YOUR CARS), you will be able to see all the others minis arriving. If we have a designated tail end person, when the two last minis arrive they can pull off to the left just before the lights. When the group in the car park move up to the lights ready to turn right back onto Lawrence Hargrave drive, they will trip the traffic lights to give them a green. The two minis who had pulled off just before the lights can then move up to the lights and sit there until all the minis in the car park have turned onto LHD and then join onto the end. This will ensure a single unbroken line of minis all the way to Bald Hill.

Bit confused?

Well we will explain at the start of the run on sunday (tomorrow).

Hope to see you all there.

Jonesy.

Then we will head up to Robertson via either macquarie pass or jamberoo mt rd, and continue on to Kangaroo Valley. We will have a bit of lunch there and then we will head over to berry or kiama via jamberoo mt rd. and then head up the highway and back home.

Event Date: 24th July. (24/7/05)

Hi everyone, well this run is going to head north towards sydney, which will hopefully encourage a few more sydney guys to tag along. The run will be on the 24th July and will probably start at the usual time of 10am.

Firstly The Illawarra Mercury will be doing another story about our club on the day to boost interest in the club, but we are unsure where they will be meeting us - it will either be at the start of the run or up at bald hill. So we will be meeting at North Beach up near the Lagoon - end of Cliff Road (same place as last photo shoot). This will give us a bit more room for parking and will be more suitable for photos if it happens there. Then we will head north and go up Mt Ousley and along the old Princes Highway then head to Stanwell Tops where we can take a break at bald hill for the view and possibly a photo with the mercury. From there we will head into the national park through to Audley where we will have lunch near the river. After lunch we will head up to Bundeena. After that we will back track through the national park (unless another way i don't know about) where Sydney and w'gong people can go their separate ways and head home.

All in all should be a great day with a nice dose of twisty roads for us to enjoy!

The starting point is at the end of the white road on the right side of this map: Where?

Hope to chat to you all on our forum soon.

Otherwise see you there

Jonesy

Event Date: 5th June. (5/6/05)

Hi everyone, I really haven't touched this site for about a month as my broadband connection has been out of service, but ryan has asked me to post information on the latest run we are organising. On the 5th of June we will be travelling down to Greenwell point (Jervis Bay) or there abouts. We will meet at the usual place (cnr Mt Keira Rd. and Abercrombie St.) See a map - Where?. for a 10am start - I think that means leave wollongong at 10, so if everyone would like to meet between 9 and 9:30am. Check back here in case that detail is incorrect - I will correct it if so. Then we will cruise down and then have a relaxing lunch before the cruise home, possibly with a short stop on the way back for doughnuts at Berry. Go to our forum for discussion about the planned trip. Jonesy.

Sunday, 6 March 2005.

Hi everyone. We are planning, finally, another mini run in the Illawarra, on the 3rd of april. We will be leaving at 11am from Key Batteries in Wollongong on Mt Keira Road (cnr Mt Keira Rd. and Abercrombie St.) See a map - Where?. We will be meeting at about 10:30, please dont be later than 11 as we might leave you behind. The minis will travel down to kiama, where we will stop and have a bit of lunch (BYO), then we will travel back along a windy Jamberoo mountain road and probably end up at south beach wollongong. If you live south of wollongong we may have a stop off to pick up more cars to save you travelling back and forth, however please make requests through the forum and we will make final arrangements closer to the day. If you have any comments or questions on the run feel free to leave a message on our forum, where we discuss things mini.

At this stage there are no future events planned but we are hoping to plan a run for late January or early February. Check the website for further details.

Wednesday, 15 December 2004.

On the 12th of December five mini's met at key batteries on mt keira rd for the start of a run up the mountain, unfortunately one of the cars was unable to come on the run with us due to gear box problems. The rain held off as we drove up to the lookout where we parked for a great photo opportunity. We then headed back down the hill and drove in our small convoy through town to south beach. Although there were few of us, the day was enjoyable, and hopefully numbers will grow from here.

Wednesday, 15 December 2004.

Earlier in the year NSW mini club held a run to Thirroul beach. A few local cars met up with the NSW club run at the beach for an enjoyable afternoon. It was a great opportunity to appreciate some wonderful cars and to share mini stories and knowledge.
