Plan on being at border for the first week-end in August 2001 "It's the 25th run!"

Serious riders in Australia need to hit this one at least once, as it is held at "Border Village" a large servo straddling the WA & SA state borders and on the edge of the Nullarbor.  Its the middle of nowhere for some!

This event is yet another "gathering" with a word of mouth distribution (although sometimes helped by "Two Wheels" columnist Geoff Hall).   It has been on the go over the first weekend in August since 1976.  Originally an annual  get together of BMW riders from the West Australia & South Australia clubs (only approx 1200Km each way!), the invitation spread!

The event has one simple rule!

"You go back the way you came and if you want a badge, pay now and come back next year to collect it!"

It's a blast from Brisbane, a 5000km round trip and give yourself 4 days to be on the safe side.  The Nullabor is not a place to brake down on the way through, as services are limited past Ceduna (SA) or Kalgoorlie (WA).  If you do, you can usually get a lift from a passing semi (within a couple of days) out of one of the remote servos.    Ask Queenslander "Charlie Brown" who broke a crankshaft 50 Km out of Nullarbor Roadhouse.  Towing then (87) was $1 per km each way!
