What should I wear?
Can I eat or drink before Yoga classes?
What if I am menstruating?
What if I am pregnant?
Should I do Yoga when I am sick?
How often should I attend?

Do I have to bring a towel or a mat?

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable exercise clothes.
That can be
shorts (loose or bicycle style) and T-shirt/ singlet;
for for the colder months, tights or tracksuit pants, T-shirt and warm up top.
Baggy clothes are not recommended as they can obscure the form of the body which is important for you and the teacher to see while doing yoga.
Always have clean bare feet in class.

Can I eat or drink before Yoga classes?

If possible stomach and bowels should be empty when doing yoga.
L
eave 1-2 hours after a light meal and 3-4 hours after a heavy meal before practising Yoga.
You may have a light snack not closer than 1 hour before class if blood sugar levels are an issue.
A glass of water or juice and a piece of fruit is often enough to stop you feeling hungry and without disturbing your digestion in class.
Avoid alcohol before class as well as caffeine drinks.

Your yoga experience will be more beneficial and you will feel much lighter if you follow these guidelines.

What if I am menstruating?

Please advise your teacher before the start of the class if you are menstruating, so that he/she can recommend poses that are more suitable for this time.

What if I am pregnant?

Please advise your teacher before the start of the class if you know or suspect you are pregnant.
We do not teach dedicated prenatal classes. Experienced yoga students may attend classes at the school under this circumstance.

Should I do Yoga when I am sick?

If you have a headache, experience cold, flu, earache, back, neck or knee trouble, eye problems, high blood-pressure or any other problems of this sort, please advise your teacher before the class.
There are specific postures and sequences that can assist your recovery and in some cases (i.e. high blood pressure, earache) certain postures are contraindicated.

How often should I attend?

Both you and your teacher benefit from regular and consistent attendance.
Classes build your experience and understanding of yoga week by week.
Beginners often feel content starting with one class per week. With more experience and confidence the student may wish to expand to 2 classes per week or more as well as home practice.

Do I have to bring a towel or a mat?

A towel is not essential but might be useful if you tend to sweat during exercise.
Mats and all other props are provided.
You can bring your own sticky mat if you wish or purchase one.
