Note that the new series of criteriums is about to start.
The first round of the CERVELO Northern NSW Cup was held on the weekend with the Jacaranda Festival Criterium at Grafton, with a smattering of Freeriders participating.

Terry Wiggins finished a fair 7th in D Grade, Tony Clarke either 6th or 7th (but in the final sprint and close up to winner) in B Grade, with Shane Russel and Chris Pratt involved in a crash and both unable to complete the course. In A Grade, Morgan Pilley had a great race leading well into the final lap, but being swamped by a quality field, which was won convincingly by one of the up and coming Northern Rivers riders, Brendan Cole.
The novice juniors race was also won by a NRCC club Academy rider, Casper Oxley, who recoverd following a fall early in the race to outclass his opposition. Unfortunately, Chris Pratt was seriously injured as a result of his fall, with a serious break to his upper femur very close to the hip joint, and he was taken first to Grafton Base Hospital before being transferred to Coffs Harbour, where he was operated on on Sunday morning with a plate inserted to his hip/leg, and it will be quite a while before we see Chris back on the bike. We will keep members posted as to how Chris is going. We wish him a quick recovery. Fortunately, Shane only sustained minor injuries to his elbow, and would have been able to complete the race if his bike had not been damaged.

In the Grafton to Inverell, Morgan Pilley finished in 7 hours, 40'54" in C Grade, and Tony Clarke finished in 8 hours 20'20" in C Grade. Congratulations to both.
