With the experience gained and encouragement from fellow modellers he built his next layout, “BEYOND 2000” which was first exhibited in 1999 and has since won six awards. November 2001 saw our next layout, “SNOWY RIVER CANYON” at it’s first showing, and has been exhibited a number of times since winning an award at Thornleigh in 2002. Early in 2003 the urge to create resulted in the decision to re-birth BEYOND 2000 and so CITY LIGHTS was born. Recycling an old layout was challenging as we tried to portray Sydney by night. We majored on various lighting effects and experimented with different products to produce what we feel is an exciting effect.
Our next project was the building of ‘BELLBIRD’, a logging scene somewhere in NSW. At it’s first showing at the AMRA Hurstville Exhibition 2006 BELLBIRD was awarded the Best Australian Scenery Trophy. The layout was also awarded the ‘Excellence in Modelling” trophy at the Malkara Canberra exhibition 2007. Our newest layout is ‘COLCAIRN’. Loosely modelled on the town of Culcairn it has double mailnine and extensive yards.
Please check out the LAYOUT pages for a more detailed description of our layouts. Col is a member of the New South Wales N Scale Group and was a founding member of Georges River Model Railway Club serving as President for many years.
