ORGANS USING SYNTHESIZED SAMPLES
The “Earlwood Organs” Models 1 to 4 were all made using synthesized samples, the technique being developed gradually to include the use of a “pseudo-random” effect dubbed the “Earlwood Wobble”, and the use of “Hybrid Samples” where a recorded attack was joined to a short synthesized looped section.
MAKER’S DISCLAIMER: In my opinion, these are mainly of historical or archival interest, as I consider that their quality of sound is distinctly inferior to that produced when good recorded samples are used. There may however be certain situations where very small soundfonts are needed, in which case they come into their own.
ORGANS USING RECORDED SAMPLES
Subsequent organs were made using recorded samples up to 6 seconds in length, and arranged as 6 samples per octave for the more significant stops, and (in some cases) 3 samples per octave for the less significant stops. In all cases “dry” mono samples were being produced, with the microphone in place relatively close to the instrument. Panning within the soundfont provides a very acceptable pseudo-stereophonic effect.

This section has been reserved for soundfonts containing individual presets which for one reason or another may not have found a place in actual organs.
