Rocky Creek Canyon - Jan 2005 |
| And Cait's first ever canyon. With Andy, Kim, and their eldest, Emily (her second canyon) The weather was reasonably kind to us.. "Partly cloudy".. so we enjoyed the sun once we were in the canyon.. and the walk out wasn't too hot. This was actually the first canyon I ever did as well... so a bit of 'meaning' to it as well !!! A good canyon for a first one. No abseils.. not too tricky.. and not too bad a walk in and out. |

Kitted up with a brand new pair of Dunlop Volleys.... |
On the walk in. |
(OK, so Marc took a photo of Andy taking a photo. This is part of the walk in as well. I'm not showing you the one Marc took of Cait and me because I look disgusting!!) |
The start of the canyon, and wetsuit time!! Cait pointing the way in. You either climb down just behind where she is standing.. or, once the pool below is checked for depth, and snags, and if your name is Marc or Andy, you jump in. We saved the jumping in till a later water jump (where there wasn't another choice! - didn't get round to a photo there.. though Andy might come through with one yet...someone had a camera out when Marc did his Geronimo impression there)) |

Cait and Emily wetsuited up and ready to go. Cait's wearing the shorts on my suggestion.. to protect the bum of her wetsuit. |
| Kim negotiating a log and a climb down.. and me holding her lilo. She had handed down her wetsuit to Emily, and only had thermals, so decided to go the lilo option instead of swimming through the pools.. As it turned out, she decided that she wasn't too cold in the thermals and woollen jumper.. well... not cold once you're out. When you're in the water, it's bloody freezing even in a wetsuit!! Thankfully, I managed to squeeze into mine again (with some help from Marc!). |

Kim
and the lilo again! It was just a cheap plastic one and it kept going
down!! |
But, after all.. you can just swim it, like this!!! BBBRRRRRRR !! |
Worshipping the sun comes easy... it makes you think you're a bit warmer! |

And once you get to the end.. have lunch.. and make your way further down the creek, there is then the inevitable climb back up. A bit more freaky than it looks, and than what I remembered from many years back!! |

Bit
further back to the car from here.. but oh what a feeling, sitting there
with that view. |
