-
Make sure your finances are in
order.
-
Go see a local real
estate agent and discuss your needs and wants. They can guide you into the right type of property and area.
-
Be sure
the property you pick is the right one. Bring along anyone, like your parents or friends, who may influence your decision.
-
Decide
what you would like to pay for the property. Take into account any
repairs/maintenance you feel it needs.
-
Make an
offer if you feel that it is appropriate.
-
Pick a solicitor, or conveyancer. If your
offer is accepted you will need someone who can act very quickly for
you.
-
Ask any questions now, don't leave them until
after you have purchased. It could be too late.
-
Remember - You make the decisions.
-
Buy on
Emotion, not price, but remember to be happy. You must only buy in the price bracket you can afford.
-
Inspection reports are generally wise
for most purchasers to get. Usually they are obtained after the price is
negotiated. It is common to get a Pest and Building Inspection, in Strata
Title you can also get a Strata Title Inspection outlining the state of the
Strata Plan. Either your solicitor or real estate agent can usually
recommend qualified people who can handle the reports for
you.
-
Don't wait for the market. There is a story, with a picture,
of a really old man. The caption reads 'A young man waiting for the price of
real estate to come down'. Don't let this be you.
