How is the money spent?

How do I make a donation?

To make a donation please send your cheque or money order to: The Secretary, Friends of Tomerong Union Church Inc., C/o Tomerong Post Office, TOMERONG 2540 and make your remittance payable to the Friends of Tomerong Union Church Inc. Thank You.

What will the money be used for?

FOTUC has had several building inspections conducted that have focussed on assessing the repair and preservation of the buildings and the heritage aspects of these tasks. Of prime importance are the replacement of the roofing and the provision of adequate drainage. This is what FOTUC has focussed on first. Other tasks include (but are not limited to) pest control, building painting and flooring repairs.

What methods are being used to finance the building maintenance, preservation and restoration?

In November 2001 we posted over 430 letters giving the recipients the opportunity to contribute financially to the project. About half of the mail out was to local residents and 50 of the remainder were to religious institutions. Most of those outside the village had been purchasers of the Tomerong local history book.

We have applied for several heritage assistance grants via the local council and have been successful. Other applications for grants via heritage and other government and non-government institutions have not yet been successful. We shall continue to investigate other avenues of funding, as well as attracting material donations and commercial support. We have received voluntary work via the Work for the Dole scheme and have working bees but our major efforts have been in fundraising to employ contractors sympathetic to our cause.

How do I find out more information?

Read the minutes, read the rules, come to our next meeting and/or contact the committee. If you feel you can assist us in fundraising, gaining material donations, providing advice (building, heritage etc.) or by some other means please contact us and we will put you in touch with the FOTUC member who deals with that area.
