****I am in the middle of moving everything to VK6HZ.com. Please be patient as I make this move over the next 7 days. 16 March 2007. Welcome! This is the website of John Ferrington, VK6HZ. I have been a licensed Amateur (Ham) Radio hobbyist for over 20 years now and I enjoy all aspects of radio. As this website evolves, I will add more radio related info. Apart from my passion (obsession) for Amateur Radio, I also enjoy photography. All of the pics on this website have been taken by me. I usually take a camera with me where ever I go! Perth Bell Tower Native wildflowers Morawa WA A great Rottnest Sunset
Rottnest Island (OC-164) 2007:Thanks to all who I worked during my holiday to Rottnest Island, OC-164, during the first week of March. I managed 451 QSO's, mainly on 15. I do promise that next year I will be on 20 and 40 as well. I only recieved the Buddipole a few days before I went away, so I didnt have much time to work it out! Over the next two months or so, I will master it so I will be able to work all bands when at Rottnest Is next year.
The 2008 holiday is booked and will be for two weeks, including the
weekend of the CQWPX Contest so I do plan to do a semi-serious entry! The station I use for portable operation is:
Upcoming operations:I will be taking part in athe CQ WPX test on 23/25 March from my club, Northern Corridor Radio Group (see LINKS page) in a Multi-Single. There will be 4 or 5 operators invoved in this effort. John - VK6NU, Andrew - VK6ARA, Keith - VK6XH and myself are confirmed for this operation. It will be a chance to give the new 40M Spiderbeam a really good work out! Over Easter I will be operating from between 8 and 12 West Australian Shires for the Worked all Shires Award. Due to the band limitations on this award, I will be focusing on 30 and 40 only. Will be on air from around 6am to 8am then again from 4pm to 6pm each day over the Easter break. Details of the award can be found at the club website www.ncrg.org.au. The shires I will activate will be listed here over the coming week or two, but one or two of them will be relatively rare as there is no licensed Amateurs in these shires, with areas the size of the state of Tasmania!
At the moment this page in new! As I add stuff to the site, I will put the information here. But this website is something new to me so it is a work in progress! There will also be some technical articals put up here as well. I dont do very much circuit build and design, but some of the things I have built I'm sure will be of interested to many people....
So, sit back and enjoy. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to email me by clicking here!
