Owen Signs

COMPANY: Owen Signs
WORK: Concept design for new website

Following established logo and colour profiles I developed a site that delivered a corporate feel. The clients main priority was to effectively display their products to the user. This was achieved by using a large central image that cycled through products, it was both user controlled and automatic.

Most of the design elements are intentionally dark to allow the user to focus on the most important elements, being the product images and accompanying text.

Ansto

COMPANY: Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation
WORK: Concept design for new website

Developing a website for a government agency is always a difficult task. The look and feel has to be very strict, with this proposal for Ansto I gave the site a very strong corporate feel while trying to add a nice aesthetics with the large logo and incorporating relevant images.

Although ultimately this design we never used it remains one of my favourite it is marriage of function and appeal.

Barrier Signs

COMPANY: Barrier Signs
WORK: Concept design for new website

Barrier Signs wanted a new website to accompany their new catalogue and corporate styling. Using elements from the new catalogue I designed a site that would allow users to quickly see the vast range of products Barrier Signs has to offer.

On mouse overs the left image changes to show an example image and a short description about the product range.

Bearing Dynamics

COMPANY: Bearing Dynamics
WORK: Concept design for new website

One thing I love is interesting engineering products, when given the responsibility to design a site for Bearing Dynamics I instantly wanted to show users how awesome simple products like bearings can look.

The client had a specific demand to use the large dragline image to show they worked within the mining industry so I decided to stick with the black/dark greys for backgrounds to tie in with that. The silvers and light greys I used to match the main bearing image I used in the header.

Lutanda

COMPANY: Lutanda Recreation and Conference Centres
WORK: Concept design for new website

Designed as a website to promote three holiday camps, Lutanda's wish was for the site to be bold, have fun colours and movement.

The large main image is actually a flash file that rotates through a series of images from the camps that show the large range of activities they have to offer. The three smaller buttons beneath this lead users to individual subsites for each camp. As each camp required their own specific subsite to hold all their information it was important to provide the user easy access and usability.

Display Systems Australia

COMPANY: DSA
WORK: Concept design for new website

DSAs main wish for their site was to show off the different range of products they had on offer. The front page for this site is all flash with product range names being displayed along the middle and an associated image show on the right. The user is capable of controlling the flash by clicking on the small circles on the edge of the product image border.

The reason for all the blue? Well every piece of corporate imagery we received from DSA was blue so the site fits perfectly into their stable of promotion material.

First Creek

COMPANY: First Creek Specialist Winemakers
WORK: Concept design for new website

I've designed a number of wine/vineyard websites but ultimately this one became one of my favourites. Why? I like the asymmetry of the vines on the header.

The different shades of grey match the companys logo but the main image in the header (which cycles through a number of images) offers the user a view of the winery and also introduces some colour into the site.

Friendlies Pharmacy

COMPANY: The Friendlies Discount Pharmacy
WORK: Concept design for new website

I've designed countless websites for pharmacies but the colours in this design makes it one of my favourites.

The shear amount of products on offer require a number of sub-categories, the rainbow of category tabs helps the user identify and keep track of their path through the site. I carried this use of colour to the member login and shopping cart on the right.

The large image is used for advertising products and promotions and was an important inclusion for the client.

Hunter Radiology

COMPANY: Hunter Radiology
WORK: Concept design for new website

Hunter Radiology had such an established corporate look that it was always going to be difficult creating something new and exciting for them.

This site essentially became an extension of their existing promotional material, through the use of colour and imagery.

Farrow Wyatt

COMPANY: Farrow Wyatt Chartered Accountants
WORK: Concept design for new website

Farrow Wyatt had such a strong logo and corporate colours so designing a site for them was relatively easy. Taking the logo and translating its angles and colours into something interesting to look at.

The client had a requests for movement on their page, so the main image was animated.

Shaw Gidley

COMPANY: Shaw Gidley Insolvency and Reconstruction
WORK: Concept design for new website

The client had an established advertisement image and wanted a website to fit with in. So using their set look and feel designing a website to accompany their other material was the goal.

Being a company that needs to convey a large amount of information it was important not to overload the page with too much text, so the amount of text was limited to smaller blocks and broken up by white space and images.

Henchman

COMPANY: Henchman Products
WORK: Concept design for new website

Henchman was a company with two distinct business sides, the red and blue in the header reflects these two sides.

The client asked for users to be able to see all their products and services on the one page, it was a stretch, but by dividing them into categories the layout became a lot more manageable.

Jeff Haywood Photography

COMPANY: Jeff Haywood Photography
WORK: Concept design for new website

How do you design an website for a photographer? Easy take one of their images and build around it.

The entire site was built around the colours in the main image, the backgrounds, borders, text and logo all tie into the main image.

Another important aspect for photography websites is that images must be easily accessed and viewable, for this site they were categorised to minimise navigation.

John Thomas Electrical

COMPANY: John Thomas Electrical
WORK: Concept design for new website

JTEs logo whilst simplistic has some really nice colours. So I decided to work with them and also include the circular element to the website.

Blue was the logical choice for the main colours with the yellow and oranges adding nice accenting. Throughout the entire site large pictures are used to show what the business is all about.

Kuta Lines

COMPANY: Kuta Lines Surfwear Australia
WORK: Concept design for new website

How better to identify a surfwear company than by incorporating surf imagery. The main image became a flash file to add movement to the page.

One of the clients main requests for this site was to design and incorporate online shopping. Extensive designing was done on the layout and flow of the shopping area of the site.

Masco Design

COMPANY: Masco Design
WORK: Concept design for new website

A quick and simple design that turned into one of my favourites. Inspired by their logo I designed a corporate site with different lines than people would be used to seeing.

The logo being such a strong piece I decided to make it a focal point by muting the colours across the rest of the design.

Mount Lawley High School

COMPANY: Mount Lawley Senior High School
WORK: Concept design for new website

I've designed a lot of school websites, but this is one of my favourite. The main image in the header is a flash file at the request of the school to show different images of the school and students.

School websites need to incorporate an element of corporate design yet be 'fun' enough to appeal to students and parents. The colours and abstract background image add to both the corporate and fun feels.

Most school sites require a lot of designing to fit all required information on the page. It takes some juggling to make everything fit comfortably but with Mt Lawley I was able to achieve this nicely.

Seymour Lawler Architects

COMPANY: Seymour Lawler Architects
WORK: Concept design for new website

This became a nice minimalistic design that was all about the firms building designs.

When a company has inspiring and interesting designs it is easy to make a site look good. Just keep the lines sharp and clean.

SCV Imports

COMPANY: SCV Imports
WORK: Concept design for revamped website

SCV Imports required an update to their existing site and asked for darker colours and more aligned to their new print media ads. Not wanting to make it entirely black and grey I muted the colours of main imagery and retained the colours for headings.

Symphony of Australia

COMPANY: Symphony of Australia
WORK: Concept design for new website

This design was put together to show a merging of Australian culture and music. The colours are very much Australian with orange earth translating to elements across the page.

It was important to the client for the user to hear what their vision was, so a media player was essential. Instead of taking up valuable room the player was designed to be minimal and non-obtrusive.

SignsPlus Graphics

COMPANY: SignsPlus Graphics
WORK: Concept design for new website

When you design a website for a talented artist there are many areas to draw inspiration from and in the case of this client his airbrushed flames were too hard to turn down.

Using the airbrushed flames and the clients logo as inspiration the rest of the site fell into place.

JR Richards & Sons

COMPANY: JR Richards & Sons Waste Management Professionals
WORK: Concept design for new website

Using the clients logo and their proud Australian ownership I designed their new site accordingly.

To promote an environmental image a forest scene was added to the header.

Matt Streatfeild Photography

COMPANY: Matt Streatfeild Photography & Design
WORK: Concept design for new website

Once again developing a site for a photographer is easy when there are sensational images on offer to draw inspiration from.

Matt requested a simple site that would allow him to have multiple galleries to show his work off, we went with blacks and greys for the majority of the site and simply let his images do the talking.

Prem Bedlam

CLIENT: Prem Bedlam
WORK: One page website

To help Prem sell his current EP I designed and built a quick one page site for him.

It will act as a landing page and point of access to buy his EP, view his latest video clip and be a jumping point to his other places of contact online.
