Product Review:
Seagate Backup Plus SLIM:
My work as a Computer Buddy brings me into daily contact with clients who mainly use Windows or Apple Mac computers, as well as a variety of mobile phones, tablets etc. I work at home on both Windows and Mac computers, but when I am visiting clients I bring a highly portable 13" Apple Macbook Pro, with its 512 GB solid state drive.  To best assist my clients, this Macbook has been configured to run Mac OS X Mavericks and  Windows 10. Obviously I need to backup under both operating systems and this is where the Seagate Backup Plus Slim is an excellent choice. Right out of the box it is ready to go. It comes pre-loaded with all of the necessary software for installation on PC, Mac or both. Upon initial setup, I chose for this drive to be used for both PC and Mac. It worked like a dream. After the initial backup I was happily surprised to be able to easily locate individual files from the well organised folder structure within the main backup file. I have also found that there is still plenty of space left on the drive for me to shuffle my clients' data from their old PC to a newly purchased one.

Backing up is one of those jobs that many of my clients postpone because they think it is too difficult or too expensive. Once I have demonstrated, my clients now agree that Seagate has made it very easy. They are also pleased to learn that at 9.6 cents per gigabyte, (based on $99 at JB HIFI) this Seagate is one of the most affordable backup drives on the market. With USB3 connectivity, it is also quite speedy: published tests show that it is faster than its main competitors. It is available in four bright colours: red, blue, black and silver. It is only 12.1 mm thick and easily slides into a pocket or purse. A thin LED lamp glows when the drive is powered on. It has either a 1 TB or 2 TB capacity.

Not only does this device do regular backups, but it also backs up social media and mobile phones. You can also use it to upload images to Facebook and Flickr and videos to YouTube. You can backup images from Facebook and Flickr using the share and save buttons under Social Media in the menu. If you download the Seagate Mobile App, you can also backup your phone data, images and videos.

This is one of the best backup dives that I have ever used and I confidently and enthusiastically recommend it. Clients on the move, travelling light or who just simply hate clutter, will love the power and convenience afforded by the Seagate Backup Plus SLIM.
