The first step is to join a car club that offers historic registration. Minis in the Gong are not a car club only an non profit enthusiest group. If you own a Mini there is the NSWMCC Mini Car Club and also ACT Mini car Club, or any classic car club that offers historic registration.

You can still come on Minis in the Gong events/runs on historic plates as long as your club has approved our events (normally by gazetting them in a club magazine for example)

It is a lot cheaper for rego, greenslip and insurance.

The downside is you can really only drive your car on club days. Your car is technically unregistered, and is conditionally allowed to be on the road when approved by a club.

You'll get a new numberplate that starts with an H with numbers after that.

Hi Timmy, my Mini is on club rego with The South Coast Vintage Car Club. I can give you more info tomorrow if you are at the Show 'n Shine. I have the white Cooper S with the Heritage Plates No. 48229 H
Hope to see you there,
Carlo Madaschi.
